“Exosphere” Leather Top

Concept

The Exosphere Leather Top is an exoskeletal upper-body system designed as a structural layer between garment and harness—a sculptural frame that redefines the torso through tension, compression, and negative space. Inspired by aerospace safety rigging, motion-restraint architectures, and the orbital layering of protective shell systems, the piece functions as both garment and mechanical apparatus. Its open-front configuration and hardware-focused centreline create a controlled exposure of the body, transforming wear into an engineered expression of structural balance. The Exosphere System continues Voitech®’s investigation into garments that operate as load-bearing objects rather than traditional apparel.

Engineering

The front is anchored by a central metallic hardware closure system, acting as both a functional fastening point and visual focal node. Contrast blue internal panelling introduces a hidden technical layer, revealed through movement and opening geometry, emphasising the duality between exterior armour and internal structure. Ribbed and moulded textural sections support flex zones through the lower panelling, enabling controlled movement without collapsing silhouette definition. Every element is positioned to maintain tension-based form in both static and dynamic states.
